Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Santa Ana is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Santa Ana follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Gokumi Ramen & Yakitori is one of those rare Japanese restaurants that does both ramen and yakitori really well. Usually a place specializes in one or the other, but this spot nails both. The biggest surprise was the A5 Wagyu Bone Marrow Ramen. At $40 a bowl, it’s definitely a splurge, but after a few bites I understood why. The broth was incredibly rich and packed with umami without feeling over the top. It’s one of those bowls that keeps you going back for another sip. We also ordered a variety of yakitori, a couple of hand rolls, and two rice balls for the kids. Everything was cooked really well. The yakitori had that nice smoky grilled flavor, the hand rolls were fresh, and the rice balls were a hit with the kids. The ramen was definitely the star of the meal, but honestly there wasn’t a single dish we regretted ordering. If you’re trying to decide between ramen or yakitori, this is one of the few places where you really don’t have to choose.

This is a fantastic spot that is incredibly convenient, situated right close to the freeway. The service was on pointβ€”our food came out quick, which is always a huge plus when dining out! The yakitori was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend checking out their special skewer offerings, especially the chicken hearts, which were a major standout. We also ordered a great spread of their other dishes, and everything hit the mark. it is always a win to find a restaurant that satisfies everyone. Between the two adults and our toddler daughter, absolutely nothing went to waste 🫑.

The best yakitori I've had outside of Japan! The yakitori and nigiri are extremely tasty. The grill gives the yakitori a nice smoky flavor that meshes well with the meat, grilled rice, and veggies. Excellent service as well, everyone is nice. Place gets busy and parking can be difficult, but that doesn't take away how great the food and service is. Go eat here!

Came here on a Saturday night around 9pm and it was very busy. We were able to join the waitlist and the estimated time was pretty close. Ambiance is nice, a little noisy in a nice lively way. Vibe was freat, service was great, and food was amazing. We ordered a good variety and genuinely enjoyed everything. We can't wait to go back and try more!

I've been to Gokumi Ramen several times now, and every time, the food and service are amazing. This time, a friend and I shared several skewers including ginkgo nuts, pork belly wrapped mushrooms, chicken heart, and A5 wagyu–both tri tip and (I think) filet or similar cut. We had no idea what the ginkgo nuts were, so we tried a few and then did some Googling and learned more about them. Super interesting (and toxic) nuts–they're buttery and sweet, definitely worth a try–they are well cooked and de-shelled so they're not dangerous. The pork belly wrapped mushrooms are so good–they get a great crisp on the pork belly which really makes it. The star of the show, however, was the wagyu (non-tri-tip). I had never had A5 wagyu, and this was the best bite of steak I've ever had (I have had my fair share of great steak cuts, filet minon, chateaubriand, Australian dry aged tomahawk, etc). It was perfectly cooked to a medium-rare (which is really impressive considering the size of the three pieces on the skewer). I can't wait to order that skewer again on my next visit. We each ordered different noodle dishes–I had the tonkatsu ramen and my friend ordered the Mentaiko Mazemen with mentaiko,
